Assessment of the impact of anemia on hematological parameters among hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease

Anemia is a common consequence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) that linked to decrease in patients' quality life, rise morbidity and mortality, an acceleration CKD progression. This study aimed investigate the hematological profile renal patients undergoing hemodialysis correlate same with anemia. Fifty (54% males 46% females) ages ranging from 18-76 years on regular maintenance not less than three months at Iraqi center for dialysis Baghdad teaching hospital, 30 healthy adults were recruited into study. Hemoglobin concentration, red cell count, white blood platelet ESR, CRP HCV assessed subjects controls. Results analyzed using t-test independent, data retrieved laboratory information system hospital. Red count was reduced nearly all (96%) patients, while ESR elevated (98%) (95%). All suffered anemia HD patients. Most WBCs counts normal. Anti-HCV antibodies positive 15 (30%) these non-significant differences both genders.
